WATER (2005)

In the India of the 1930s, a young girl is banished to an isolated community of widows when her aged husband dies. There she is befriended by a beautiful young woman, also a widow, who prostitutes herself at the bidding of the leader of the community. The child witnesses the growing attraction between her friend and a handsome upper-caste man who attempts to defy the customs of a changing culture.
