A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE (2005)

Review by Francesca
I find parts of this movie sensual but I can’t rate it sensual overall due to the constant tension, violence and the final sequence with William Hurt (he seems very fake and the whole scene seems like it belongs in another movie, not just in another part of the main character’s life). All that said, I like this movie and find the family sequences very sensual as well as the overall feel of small-town life. There are some beautiful moments shared between the husband and wife and you sense their deep love for each other. You also sense the love and caring they have for their children and how the children care for them. Viggo, as usual for me, is very sensual even in the way he walks down the street to work or sits at breakfast with his children. His wife, too, is the kind of person who seems full to the brim with her passions and emotions. The ending of the movie brings all that sensuality together for me so I almost go away with a good feeling but the movie has been too draining to really relax and enjoy it for it to be completely sensual for me.
